Homey and Comforting Flavors at Limbaga 77

A former home transformed, serving inventive local cuisine...

Limbaga 77 shares its own unique take on Filipino comfort food with inventive dishes inspired by local flavors, just one of many dining options along Scout Limbaga in a quaint neighborhood of Quezon City.

A former home in the quiet Scout area district of Quezon City, Limbaga 77, named after the address of the restaurant, offers comforting Filipino cuisine. Start with Limbaga 77's signature fresh fruit blended beverages, like the refreshing Lychee Grape Shake (P 177) or the Minty Mango Watermelon Shake (P 177).

At Limbaga 77, you'll find all the familiar favorites of Filipino cuisine, and some surprising new dishes with a modern spin. Limbaga 77's Stuffed Bulaklak ng Kalabasa (P 227), squash blossoms with ground pork, local white cheese, cheddar cheese, spring and white onions, and garlic, starts you off with fresh and clean flavors and textures, setting you up for the next round of dishes...

The Limbaga 77 Stuffed Laing (P 377), ground pork and white shrimp cooked in chicken stock, coconut milk and lemongrass, white onion and garlic and rolled in taro leaves, is their modern take on the traditional dish. The savory flavors of the ground pork and shrimp are layered by the rich and creamy coconut milk and chili sauce, capped with the subtle sweetness of the fresh taro leaves.

Fresh from the oven, Limbaga 77's signature Roasted Chicken (P 577), whole chicken with lemongrass, is then served adding a celebratory vibe to the feast. The tender and juicy chicken, with its delicate notes complemented by the subtle hint of sweet lemongrass capped by a mildly crisp layer of glazed skin. The flavors are fresh and uncomplicated, simple yet flavorful.

The traditional beef stew with thick and creamy peanut sauce, the Kare-Kare (P 577) is then served next, with tender beef shank, ox tripe and tail slow-cooked and simmered in beef stock and homemade peanut butter, served with homemade bagoong. Topped with fresh and crisp vegetables, the distinct flavors of each ingredient are infused in a seamless blend, perfect with steamed white rice.

The day's fresh catch are transformed with another comforting dish, Limbaga 77's Spicy Seafood Adobo (P 577), with crabs, white shrimp, mussels, and squid in Pinoy adobo-style sauce made with coconut milk, soy sauce, vinegar, white onions, chili, and garlic in shrimp stock. The briny sweetness of the fresh seafood draped in an adobo-style sauce enriched with coconut cream and the traditional adobo condiments of vinegar, soy sauce and garlic combine in yet another flavorful dish.

Round out your feast at Limbaga 77 with some pork love. The Limbaga 77 Baked Lechon Paksiw (P 577), tender pork belly baked and roasted in garlic, oregano, shallots, lemongrass, lemon zest, black pepper, and salt draped in a rich gravy, completes your dining experience. The fork-tender and juicy pork belly's rich flavors are kicked up a notch higher by the thick gravy, with hints of garlic and lemongrass weaving in for even more flavor. Homey, comforting dishes, and you can find it all at Limbaga 77.
