Afternoon Rains and Bowls of Noodles at Annam Noodle Bar

There's just something about rainy afternoons that trigger your appetite...

...and the steaming hot bowls of Annam Noodle Bar's signature Hanoi-Style pho is just perfect when the skies turn grey. And there's nothing like Annam Noodle Bar's Pho Australian Ox-Tail and Beef Balls to make things right on a rainy day.

Start your dining experience with one of Annam Noodle Bar's signature Small Plates, like the Mekong Prawn Rolls (P 200), crisp deep-fried spring rolls with prawn and vegetables served with a sweet and tart sauce, the perfect starter and side for your Pho. Annam Noodle Bar serves a variety of small plates, including fresh Vietnamese salads and the iconic fresh spring rolls with prawns (more on my first visit to Annam Noodle Bar and their extensive menu on my previous post, Pho, Banh Mi, and Vietnamese Coffee at Annam Noodle Bar).

The Hanoi-style Pho Australian Ox-Tail and Beef Balls (P 400) is guaranteed to brighten up any rainy afternoon, with its soft rice noodles and richly flavored broth boiled for over 24 hours, topped with fresh herbs and spring onions. And just like my first visit at Annam Noodle Bar (more on my earlier post here), my pho was perfect (L).

You can also try other noodle dishes from Southern and Central Vietnam, like the Saigon Fisherman's Noodle Soup (P 380), a hearty and comforting noodle dish with a thick and tasty broth, fish cakes, prawns, soft-shelled crab, and fresh herbs with short and fat noodles. The intense flavors of the broth contrasts with the delicate notes of the fresh seafood, capped by the minty undertones of the fresh herbs for complex yet balanced flavors.

The Quang Style Egg Noodles (P 320), with fresh egg noodles, barbecued pork rib, prawns, fish cakes and peanuts drizzled with a sweet and savory spiced sauce, is another refreshing option. The rich, smoky and savory notes of the pork rib and the briny sweetness of the prawns pair well with the bold notes of the sauce, capped by the peanuts and fresh herbs. The crisp fish crackers complete the dish. Rain or shine, it just feels right to have a comforting bowl of noodles...at Annam Noodle Bar.
