A Spicy Encounter with Ramen Nagi's Nagoya King

Grey skies and late afternoon rains, perfect weather for some spicy ramen with serious level 10 heat. And for a limited time only, you can indulge in Ramen Nagi's newest Limited King, the Nagoya King...

Ramen Nagi introduces the ultimate spicy ramen with their newest Limited King edition, the Nagoya King, with its signature broth fired up with soothing spices guaranteed to brighten up any rainy day. All fired up for the new Nagoya King? Read on...

Regarded by many ramen fans as the best in Tokyo (with two consecutive awards as the top National Ramen of the Year for 2011 and 2012), Ramen Nagi's founder, young chef and ramen master, Ikuta Satoshi continues to take ramen to new heights with his limited edition variants.

As you enjoy the fresh and crisp bean sprouts and mustard greens served on the table along with traditional condiments, Ramen Nagi's chefs prepare our bowls of ramen in the open kitchen. Each component for the ramen, all made fresh in-house, are delicately laid by the chefs on the bowl, topped with their signature pork chashu.

Ramen master Ikuta Satoshi's elegant fusion of global flavors are highlighted in his vibrantly colored Green King Midorio (P 410), an innovative blend of fresh basil and olive oil with the rich and flavorful signature tonkotsu broth garnished with grated Parmesan cheese and tender marbled chashu. The creamy broth is kicked up a notch by the nutty notes of the olive oil and the mildly sweet and minty basil, capped by the sharpness of the Parmesan cheese to temper the richness of the broth and the chashu for perfectly balanced flavors.

Not your traditional ramen, but that's what makes Ramen Nagi special, with its inventive and innovative approach to traditional flavors spiced up with its fusion of global flavors. The pesto-like flavors of the olive oil and basil add a comfortingly familiar layer of notes, yet each sip is a new ramen flavor experience. But if it's bolder flavors with a spicy kick you're after, then get ready for the Nagoya King...

The ultimate spicy ramen, Ramen Nagi's Nagoya King (P 450) packs some serious heat, just what you need on a rainy day. Or any day, really. Topped with a mound of savory ground pork and an equally generous amount of fresh chili, the soothing heat weaves in a flavorful burst to the creamy broth, draping each noodle with its rich and spicy notes.

Complete your ramen by adding Ramen Nagi's signature Tamago (P 50), and slurp away. First, take a sip of the rich, brightly colored broth. The heat is there, but not immediately overpowering. Instead, the spicy notes gradually intensify with each sip, making it hard to stop. Then, go for a heaping serving of thin and chewy noodles, along with some ground pork. Don't be intimidated with the level 10 spiciness of the bright red chili, and go full speed ahead. The spice warms both your body and soul, with each soothing sip heightening your senses. Despite the heat, the ramen's flavors are perfectly balanced, with the richness of the broth, the chashu, and the tamago complemented by the level 10 spiciness.

But don't get me wrong, this bowl is a seriously spicy ramen. And it works. Perfectly. And I can't wait to come back for more...

Available only for a limited time, Ramen Nagi's Nagoya King is another sure-fire winner. Excellent ramen matched by attentive and courteous service, head on down to Ramen Nagi for a spicy kick with the new Nagoya King and brighten up any rainy day...
